Using Mobile Apps

Many databases offer mobile apps for easier use on phones and tablets. In order for the mobile app to recognize your UNE Nor'Easter ID and password, follow the instructions for each app below.

Access Databases

These instructions apply to Access Medicine, Access Neurology, Access Pharmacy, and Access Science.

First, register for an MyAccess account, then download the mobile app and log in:

  1. Go to Access Medicine from from your Subject Guide or the UNE Libraries website list of databases by title
  2. Click on Sign In or Create a Free MyAccess Profile from the Sign In/University of New England menu in the very upper right. 
  3. Register for a MyAccess Profile using the email, username and password of your choosing. 
  4. Find the free Access Medicine app in your device's app store and install. 
  5. Open the app and sign in using the email and password that you chose. 

Your account and mobile access are valid for 90 days. To retain your access, log into the Access database through the UNE Library website at least every 90 days to confirm your UNE affiliation. 

CDC Apps

The CDC offers a number of free mobile apps, which can be downloaded from your device's app store. No special login or UNE registration is required.

Clinical Key/Clinical Pharmacology 

First, register for an account with Clinical Key, then download the mobile app and log in: 

  1. Go to Clinical Key from your Subject Guide or the UNE Libraries website list of databases by title
  2. Click on Register and create an account using your une.edu email address. 
  3. Find the free Clinical Key or Clinical Pharmacology app in your device's app store and install. 
  4. Select your region, and login with the your une.edu email address and password. 

Dynamed

  1. Go to Dynamed from your Subject Guide or the UNE Libraries website list of databases by title
  2. Click on Mobile from the top menu bar 
  3. Enter your email address to send yourself the instructions, key, and a link to download the app.

You will be asked to renew your access every six months by repeating the above steps. 

iMedicalApps

iMedicalApps is a website that recommends and reviews Medical Mobile Apps. Not all recommended apps are free or available through UNE Library Services' subscriptions.

The Medical Letter

  1. Go to The Medical Letter from your Subject Guide or the UNE Libraries website list of databases by title
  2. On the left-hand menu, choose Mobile App from under Products. 
  3. Register for an account using the username and password of your choosing. 
  4. Find the free The Medical Letter app in your device's app store and install. 
  5. Register with the username and password you chose earlier. 

Micromedex® 

Micromedex offers three apps: IBM Micromedex® Drug Ref, Micromedex® Int, and Micromedex® IV Comp. 

  1. Go to Micromedex from your Subject Guide or the UNE Libraries website list of databases by title
  2. Click on Download Center from the top menu 
  3. Follow the instructions for downloading and installing each app, using the password provided. 

Nursing Reference Center

The Nursing Center app is currently only available for iPhone users.

  1. Go to Nursing Reference Center from your Subject Guide or the UNE Libraries website list of databases by title
  2. At the bottom of the page, click on NRC iPhone/iPod Touch Application. 
  3. Enter your email address. You will be sent a link to download the app, along with instructions and an access key. 

Psychiatry Online

Psychiatry Online allows you to pair your smartphone or tablet to the UNE Library Services' subscription. Device pairing will expire after 90 days, but can be re-paired at any time.

PubMed

PubMed offers the PubMed4Hh (PubMed for Handhelds) app as a free resource available through your device's app store (no special account or login required). However, this app will only provide access to article citations or abstracts. To access full text you will need to use the full PubMed database from the UNE Library website. 

UpToDate

First, register for an account with UpToDate, then download the mobile app and log in: 

  1. Find UpToDate from your Subject Guide or the UNE Libraries website list of databases by title
  2. Click on Log In/Register and create an account using a user name and password of your choosing. 
  3. Click the button to Accept License.
  4. Find the free UpToDate app in your device's app store and install. 
  5. Register with the username and password you chose earlier. 

Your account and mobile access are valid for 90 days. To retain your access, log into UptoDate through the UNE Library website at least every 90 days to confirm your UNE affiliation.
