Alt-PressWatch is a full text database of the newspapers, magazines and journals from alternative and independent presses. This interdisciplinary resource provides a valuable source of alternative viewpoints and perspectives to complement and challenge mainstream media coverage. Many of these publications are difficult to locate and acquire in their printed format. The independent and critical sources presented offer a unique perspective in the pursuit of freedom of the press.
GenderWatch is a full-text database that focuses on the impact of gender across a broad spectrum of subject areas. Topics include family, childbirth, birth control, daycare, domestic abuse, work and the workplace, sexual harassment, aging, aging parents, body image, eating disorders and social and societal roles. Also included is content on the impact of gender and gender roles on areas such as: the arts, popular culture and media, business and work, crime, education, family, health care and medicine, politics, policy and legislation, pornography, religion, sexuality and sexology, sports and leisure.
North American Women's Letters and Diaries, Colonial-1950
A massive, ongoing project to catalog and index Canadian and American women's diaries and correspondence through history and to digitize and index over 1,000 volumes of published and unpublished material to the highest standards.
PressDisplay provides online access to today's newspapers from around the world in full-color, full-page format. The ever-expanding collection currently includes over 250 titles. Titles boast a 60 day backfile, and include articles as well as other key content, such as advertisements, classifieds, and notices. Users can take advantage of the keyword searching capability within each issue or simply browse through the pages of their favorite title.
ProQuest Central is a multidisciplinary database with over 11,000 titles, with over 8,000 titles in full-text. It serves as the central resource for researchers at all levels in all markets. Over 160 subjects areas are covered extensively in this product including business and economics, health and medical, news and world affairs, technology, social sciences and more.
Women Writers Online
The Brown University Women Writers Project is a long-term research project devoted to early modern women's writing and electronic text encoding. Founded in 1986, the project aims to provide accurate electronic editions of printed texts by women in English up to 1850.
World Data Analyst Online
World Data Analyst offers detailed statistical comparisons of countries around the world, using both the most recent statistics and historical figures. One create tables, charts, export the information to a spreadsheet for printing and data crunching, and also link to country articles in Encyclopedia Britannica.
