UNE Libraries' Borrowing Policies

The UNE Libraries are committed to ensuring equitable access to all of its collections and services.

Registration

Most students are automatically registered in the UNE Libraries' patron database. Faculty and staff may need to confirm their registration.  Registration is required to 1) borrow materials inside the UNE Libraries (Reserves, Circulation, and Intercampus Express) and outside the UNE Libraries (MaineCat, Interlibrary Loan, and GPACU), and 2) to access the UNE Libraries’ electronic resources from off campus.  Contact
librarycirc@une.edu for UNE ID barcode problems or access questions.

Loan Periods

Books   4 weeks (students, alumni, others)
  Books   4 months (faculty/staff)
  CDs   1 week
  Videos/DVDs   1 week
  Audios   1 week
Reserves   2 hours (in library use)

Borrowed materials may be returned to either campus library. Reference, Special Collections, and Journals do not circulate.

Items are renewable if no one has placed a hold or recall on them.
Renewals are available by phone:

221-4330 (WCC)
or by email:
librarycirc@une.edu
or on our website: http://lilac.une.edu/patroninfo/

Holds and Recalls

Holds can be placed on items currently checked out to someone else. Thus, borrowed items may be subject to recall and a new due date.

Notices
Email is the Libraries' preferred method of notification. Please confirm your current email address at the Circulation Desk at either campus library.

Overdue Items

No materials may be checked out or renewed if any items are billed or charges are outstanding.

Billed Items

A replacement cost plus a $15.00 non-refundable late fee will be charged for each billed item. The replacement cost will be refunded once the item is returned. Patrons who receive three bills will lose their borrowing privileges.
