UNE Libraries' GPACU FAQs

What is GPACU?

GPACU (Greater Portland Alliance of Colleges and Universities) is a consortium of five Southern Maine institutions: Maine College of Art, Saint Joseph’s College, Southern Maine Community College, the University of New England, and the University of Southern Maine, offering many collaborative services, including shared library borrowing.

Who can borrow items through GPACU?

UNE faculty/staff/students holding a valid UNE ID, currently registered, and in good standing with the UNE Libraries, may borrow items in-person (on site) by presenting their UNE ID at any of the GPACU institutions’ libraries.

Is there a charge for GPACU borrowing?

There is no charge for GPACU borrowing; however, charges may be assessed for overdue, unreturned, or damaged materials.

How do I know if a GPACU library owns an item that I want to borrow?

Search the library catalog of any of the GPACU participating libraries. Some types of materials may be restricted.

Where do I return a GPACU item?

GPACU items must be returned to the GPACU lending library on or before the due date.
