What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
Interlibrary Loan is a means of borrowing materials the UNE Libraries do not have access to or own.

Who can borrow materials through ILL?
UNE faculty/staff/students holding a valid UNE ID.

What materials can be requested through ILL?
    ·  Books
    · Journal articles (within the restrictions of copyright law)
    ·  Some dissertations and theses
    ·  Items generally not available include rare or fragile items, multi-volume sets, reference books, audio-visual  materials, and entire journal issues or volumes. Required course materials cannot be requested through ILL.

How many ILL requests can be submitted?
Requests are limited to 10 requests per week per individual.

Is there a charge for ILL?
Interlibrary Loan is free unless the material requested is available only from a library that charges.  Charges vary, but are usually between $9-$20.  Charges may also be assessed for overdue, unreturned, or damaged materials.

What is the delivery time for ILL requests?
Generally, ILL materials should arrive within 7-14 business days (articles may arrive sooner.)  However, delivery dates cannot be guaranteed.

How am I notified when my ILL material arrives?
Borrowers will be notified via email when materials arrive.  Materials will be held for pickup at the campus library specified on the request.

How do I use ILL material?
Photocopies are yours to keep. Books must be returned to either campus library on or before the due date.

Can ILL materials be renewed?
Renewals are strictly at the discretion of the lending libraries, and can be requested if submitted at least 3 days before the due date.  Overdue Interlibrary Loan materials cannot be renewed.

How do I place an ILL request?
    · First, check the UNE Libraries' catalog for print or electronic format availability.
    · If the UNE Libraries do not own or have access to an item, submit a separate ILL request for each item.
