Directions to the Maine Women Writers Collection

The Maine Women Writers Collection is located in the Josephine S. Abplanalp Library on the Westbrook College Campus of the University of New England in Portland, Maine. Reference hours are by appointment.

From Interstate 295, South or North:
Take exit 6B (Forest Avenue North) onto Forest Avenue. Follow Forest Avenue to the traffic light at Woodford Street (about 3/4 mile). Bear left onto Woodford Street and follow it to the traffic light at Stevens Avenue (about 3/4 mile). Turn right onto Stevens Avenue, then proceed (about 3/4 mile) to the UNE campus on your left. Turn left into the North Entrance - that is College Street and park on College Street or continue to the rear parking lot, behind the red brick library. This is the building on the left at the end of College Street that displays authors' names under the windows. Enter the library through the courtyard door, turn left at the circulation desk, then left again at the hallway and come all the way down the hall for MWWC, which is on the Library’s first floor.

From the Maine Turnpike (I-95):
Take Exit 8 (Westbrook). After the toll booth, turn left at the traffic light onto Riverside Street. Take Riverside Street about one-quarter of a mile to the intersection of Brighton Avenue (Route 25), turning left onto Brighton. Take Brighton about one and three-quarter miles to the intersection of Stevens Avenue (Route 9) and turn left onto Stevens. Continue on Stevens about one mile through three traffic lights. The campus is on your left just past the traffic light at Walton Street. Turn left into the North Entrance - that is College Street and park on College Street or continue to the rear parking lot, behind the red brick library. This is the building on the left at the end of College Street that displays authors' names under the windows. Enter the library through the courtyard door, turn left at the circulation desk, then left again at the hallway and come all the way down the hall for MWWC, which is on the Library’s first floor.
