Public Program

How does our mind/brain work? What do we mean by "unconscious mind?" How and why did unconscious processes evolve, and what are their importance, implications, and applications? Has evolution equipped us to rationally manage environmental resources? How can we better understand human relationships? Are there evolutionary differences between women and men? How will the new revolution in genetics affect us? These are just a few of the many questions that cutting-edge scientific research can help us answer.

NEI offers the general public the rare opportunity to see and learn how distinguished experts think about their fields and use their professional expertise to grapple with timely and controversial issues that concern and affect us all.

Professional and Academic Programs

NEI provides a forum for academics, practitioners, and the public to learn from distinguished scientists and scholars; to keep abreast of recent developments in research, theory and practice; and to meet and share with colleagues.

A major goal of NEI is to bring together researchers and scholars with disparate views. For example, one of the goals of NEI is to provide a combined cognitive and evolutionary understanding of unconscious and cognitive psychodynamic processes.
