Are you interested in making new friends on a true wilderness camping trip? If so, check out our Trailblazer Sea Kayaking Overnight program. This is an intermediate-level three-day outdoor learning experience provided in partnership with Lincoln Canoe and Kayak that focuses on life at UNE. Trained registered Maine guides along with UNE’s Trailblazer Guides lead you through a three-day journey around the coastal waters of Casco Bay and Freeport, Maine. You paddle out to island camp sites where you spend the nights camping as a group. While camping, you engage with your new classmates and enjoy the time spent outdoors, kayaking, sleeping in tents, and cooking meals on small camp stoves. UNE's Trailblazer guides lead discussions on adjusting to life at UNE and serve as campus resources on everything from academics to clubs and organizations. Along the way, you also learn about Maine’s unique coastal ecosystem, and how to pack efficiently as everything you bring must fit in the kayaks! You should be comfortable around water, and some kayaking experience is recommended though not required.
