Ali Ahmida participates in panel on Libya at Columbia University

Ali Abdullatif Ahmida, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Department of Political Science, took part in a panel discussion on "Libya at a Cross Roads" at the Middle East Institute at Columbia University in New York on Oct. 19, 2010.  The discussion revolved around the following issues: Libya stands at a cross roads. It has been called a rogue state, a failed state, a state of the masses, a kingdom. It was the gateway to Africa, and it has now become for many the gateway to Europe. What has been the experience of the Libyan people who only achieved independence a little more than a half a century ago? Ahmida is the author of The Making of Modern Libya: State Formation, Colonization and Resistance. You can view the panel discussion on YouTube.
