Richard LaRue receives Council on Facilities and Equipment's Honor Award

Richard J. LaRue, DPE, Professor and NAS Fellow in the Department of Business and Communications was recently recognized by the Council on Facilities and Equipment (CFE) of the American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation (AAPAR), with the Council's Honor Award.  This award recognizes an individual within the profession who has made outstanding academic and service contributions to the Council's purposes.

Dr. LaRue has served as a contributing author for three chapters in each of the last four editions of the Council's widely recognized Facility Book (considered an essential resource for all professionals involved in facility planning and construction).  The most recent edition is:   Facility Planning and Design for Health, Physical Activity, Recreation and Sport (12th edition), Sawyer, T. H. [Editor in Chief].  Champaign, IL: Sagamore (2009).  LaRue, R. J. Contributing Author (three chapters).   Chapter 4: Universal and Accessible Design: Creating Facilities that Work for All People Chapter, 5: Electrical, Mechanical, and Energy Management Chapter and 9: Landscape Design, Sports Turf, and Parking Lots.  

Additionally, LaRue completed his term as President of AAPAR, and has now assumed the role of Past President for 2010-2011.  Dr. LaRue will continue to serve AAPAR on the AAPAR Executive Committee and on an Ad Hoc NASPE-AAPAR Merger Committee.
