Teresa Dzieweczynski publishes an article in Ethology

Teresa Dzieweczynski, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, has published an article in the current issue of the peer-reviewed journal, Ethology. The article, "Audience type and receptivity affect male-female interactions in Siamese fighting fish," featured a student co-author, Meghan Walsh (PBO '10). This study builds on Dr. Dzieweczynski's continuing research on how communication occurs within a network of individuals. The work demonstrated that male-female interactions in Siamese fighting fish are influenced both by the reproductive states of the interacting individuals as well as by the sex of the third-party audience fish present. Dr. Dzieweczynski's study is the first investigation of this research question and provides an important addition to the exploration of communication outside of signaler-receiver dyads.
