Artwork by Michelle Hero Clarke on display at Campus Center

A collection of paintings by Michelle Hero Clarke, will be on display at the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus Center from May 31 through June 30, 2014.

Clarke has lived full-time in Maine for over 20 years, and most of her work is inspired by the local landscape.  Primarily painting in the “plein air” tradition, she prefers to paint on location rather than from memory or photographs.  “This method of working,” she stated, “combines my two greatest passions, which are being in nature and making art.”

Clarke studied fine arts at Parsons School of Design and the The School of Visual Arts, both in New York City.  She earned a master’s degree in art education from New York University. She has shown her paintings at numerous businesses and small galleries including Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers, Maine College of Art, and The Humboldt Visual Arts Center in Bronxville, NY.  Her artwork can also be seen at the Harraseeket Inn, in Freeport, Brown Chiropractic Wellness Center in Yarmouth, as well as in the offices of Marble Harbor Investment Counsel in Boston.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.  UNE’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine.  Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  For more information, contact Diane Noble by email or by phone (207-284-6394).
