Marine science major Carolyn Wheeler filmed in Al Jazeera feature on female tiger sharks

Carolyn Wheeler '15, marine science major, was filmed in a June 21st Al Jazeera America feature titled "A sonogram like you've never seen before" about a research program to determine pupping and gestation groups for female tiger sharks.

Wheeler was on her second trip on the project, which is a collaboration between James Sulikowski, Ph.D., UNE associate professor of marine science, and Neil Hammerschlag of the University of Miami. The researchers are using satellite tags to track the movement  of pregnant females, and ultrasound and blood chemistry to determine the stages of gestation.
