Noah Perlut presents on community farming and grassland birds

On August 25, 2014, Noah Perlut, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Studies, gave a presentation at the Coach Barn in Shelburne Farms, a non-profit education center for sustainability, located in Shelburne, Vermont.

In the presentation, titled “Community Farming and Grassland Birds:  A Local Conservation Strategy,” Perlut described the generation-to-generation life cycle of grassland birds in the northeastern United States.  He also discussed how the timing and intensity of haying and grazing affect grassland birds and how management opportunities among Vermont’s farming and landowner community can balance bird and farmer needs.
