University of New England receives high ranks for online graduate programs

UNE recently received five prestigious rankings for its online graduate programs.  The Master of Science in Education online programs, the School of Community and Population Health’s Master of Public Health program and the School of Social Work’s Master of Social Work online program were all national standouts.

The University was one of 50 colleges and universities to receive the Students Before Profits Award for its online Master of Science in Education degree programs. The award was created by Nonprofit Colleges Online, a promotional publication for online degree programs, as a way to recognize higher education institutions that consistently value the interests of students more than a bottom line.

The School of Community and Population Health and the School of Social Work were recognized in the 2015 Best Value Online College Rankings, with their online programs placing 11th and 12th, respectively. The value rankings, announced on OnlineU.org, were determined based on the costs of various online programs nationwide and were followed by an outcome-based statistical analysis.

GraduatePrograms.com ranked UNE’s Master of Public Health program as number five among all online graduate public health programs in the United States. The rank was based on reviews by current graduate students of their academic programs in categories such as education quality, program value, career support and affordability of living. There are currently over 60,000 reviews on the site for over 1,400 schools.

In addition, Public Health Online recognized the Master of Public Health program as one of the best online MPH programs of 2014-2015, ranking it number 26 in the nation.  The ranking criteria included online tuition cost, academic and career counseling services, placement services for graduates, and accreditation status.

The online Master of Social Work program was ranked as one of the top five online programs in the country by Best MSW Programs, an online guide to graduate social work education, which offers expert reviews and rankings of campus-based and online MSW programs. Contributing editors of the site hold MSW degrees and have practical experience in the field.

Rankings were based on a variety of factors, such as enrollment options, teaching methods and tuition cost per credit. The site dedicated a full paragraph to details about UNE’s Social Work program, including information about advanced program offerings, concentration options and credit hour costs.

The Best MSW Programs site also noted that UNE was nationally ranked the 9th fastest growing private nonprofit university offering master’s degrees by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
