David Mokler speaks about synesthesia in 'Bangor Daily News'
David Mokler, Ph.D., professor of pharmacology at UNE, was recently quoted in a Bangor Daily News article regarding synesthesia, a neurological phenomenon that occurs when different senses in the human body are triggered by one another.
Mokler discussed the difficulty associated with proving these types of experiences within the scientific community. He explains that although synesthesia involves neurological responses, the experiences are subjective to each individual, and thus difficult to conclusively document.
According to Mokler, “It’s very hard to say that something can’t happen in the brain. There’s no way to prove or disprove [synesthesia].”
