Kayla Lindros and Victoria Eon represent Bilsky Lab at Experimental Biology conference

Kayla Lindros (Neuroscience, '15) and Victoria Eon (McGill University, ’16) presented posters at the Experimental Biology conference in Boston, which was held March 28-March 31, 2015, on work performed in the laboratory of Ed Bilsky, Ph.D., vice president for Research and Scholarship and co-founder of the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences.

The conference drew 15,000 people together to share their latest scientific findings.

Lindros’ poster was titled "Developing Burrowing as a Non-Evoked ReadOut Assessment for Use with Novel Analgesic Drugs."  It described her studies over the past three and a half years on creating a novel animal model assay for chronic pain that is more clinically relevant to the lives of people experiencing it.

Eon’s poster, "Efficacy of Dopamine D3 Antagonist SR 21502 in Reducing Opioid Tolerance and Dependence," described work focusing on alternative therapeutic treatments for chronic pain.

Both studies demonstrate promising first steps taken by the Bilsky Laboratory toward the effective treatment of chronic pain.

Lindros’ research has been funded through Bilsky and the College of Arts and Sciences Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (during the summer of ’14), while the Southern Research Institute supported Eon’s work. Their research was presented through the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET).
