In Memoriam: John Daugherty
Our UNE Community lost a dedicated colleague, John Daugherty, of the Student Academic Success Center, who passed away Monday after a brief illness. John provided academic support to UNE students for more than 25 years, the last ten as the Developmental Writing Supervisor in the Student Academic Success Center. John delighted in helping students demystify the writing process and see writing as a tool they could master and even enjoy, rather than as an obstacle, and he worked with many devoted “regulars” over the years. His eclectic interests, encyclopedic knowledge, and irreverent sense of humor made him a distinctive colleague who will be much missed. On behalf of the hundreds of students that benefitted from his assistance and writing skills, we honor John’s legacy with our sincere thanks for his work and service at UNE.
