In Memoriam: Wilma Parker Redman

The University of New England community was saddened to learn about the passing of alumna Wilma Parker Redman. Her dedication to the University as well as nearly every civic and cultural institution in the City of Portland was a testament to her unparalleled character.

Redman was a member of the Westbrook Junior College Class of 1941, a Deborah Morton Society inductee in 1981, an Honorary Doctor of Letters from Westbrook College in 1992 and the University of New England in 2002, and was a Westbrook College Tower Award of Alumni Achievement recipient. Redman received the Heloise E. Withee ’40 Alumni Service Award in 2002, and was a Trustee Emerita of UNE and Honorary Chair of UNE’s Moving Forward Campaign.

“Wilma’s devotion to Westbrook College, to UNE and to her beloved community was tireless,” commented UNE President Danielle Ripich. “On behalf of UNE, I wish to express how much she will be missed. We have lost a wonderful friend.”
