UNE alum receives Milken Educator Award

Peter Arseneault, who graduated with a master’s degree in education from UNE in 2011, recently received the prestigious Milken Educator Award for the state of Connecticut. The honor came with a check for $25,000.

Arseneault teaches technology education at Bacon Academy in Colchester, Connecticut. During his time at the school, he developed two new classes: Science and Alternative Energy and Technology Repair.

“I love what I do. I love the students I work with,” said Arsenault. “That’s what I enjoy doing the most.”

Arsenault was among a pool of candidates nominated by the State Department of Education in Connecticut. He was selected as the winner by the Milken Family Foundation based on his accomplishments thus far and his potential for the future.

He was surprised with the award at Bacon Academy at a school assembly that he was told was for another purpose.
