UNE Occupational Therapy Department hosts Fieldwork Educator Workshop

The UNE Occupational Therapy Department hosted The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Fieldwork Educator Workshop on its Portland Campus, May 2 –3, 2015.

This conference provides participants with a deeper understanding of roles, learning theory and supervision models. Attendees are engaged with four modules relating to administration, education, supervision and evaluation to help support best practice in fieldwork education.

In alignment with the conference, UNE also hosted the Fieldwork Educator Certificate Workshop (FWECP) in May. This two-day workshop is designed for professionals in the field who are involved in fieldwork rotations.

The course is designed to review everything about fieldwork education from communication and scheduling, to grading and managing challenging situations. At its conclusion, participants receive a certification from AOTA in addition to 15 contact hours of continuing education.

Although the certification is not mandatory, it demonstrates to academic programs a commitment to education, and a passion for working with OT students. UNE is pleased to have offered this course for the second time since 2013.
