On August 3, 2016, Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Political Science, was a guest on “World View,” a program of the Chicago public radio station WBEZ.

Ahmida discussed the United States’ recent expansion of airstrikes against ISIS into the country of Libya. He explained his view that the Obama administration must find a delicate balance between coming to Libya’s aid and showing deference to the Libyan Government of National Accord, which has been trying to fight ISIS in various parts of the country.

“This has to be done with a lot of… care, a lot of sophistication, a knowledge of Libyan society, which is very complex and… has a tradition of anti-foreign intervention,” he stated.
