On April 6, 2016, the University of New England’s athletic training program invited longtime head athletic trainer of the Boston Bruins, Don DelNegro, to campus to speak to students about his career trajectory and his experiences with some of the best players in the NHL.

DelNegro spent nearly two hours discussing current medical issues in the NHL such as concussion management, the education and training that led to his current position, interesting clinical case studies from former Bruins players and his advice for young professionals eager to work in pro sports.

"We are thrilled that Mr. DelNegro took time out of his incredibly busy schedule - literally between playoff games - to come to Maine and share his passion for athletic training,” said athletic training program director Wayne R. Lamarre. “Our students have a much better idea of what it takes to both secure and endure in a high-level sports medicine job like his after participating in his engaging presentation." reports "Special thanks to one of our seniors, Ryan Durant, for helping to bring this experience to our students.”
