Students from the Department of Dental Hygiene have been actively involved with outreach work during the Spring 2017 semester, providing oral health education for students in Southern Maine.

Courtney Vannah, IPDH, M.S., assistant clinical professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene and her students traveled to Horace Mitchell Elementary School in Kittery and Blue Point Elementary School in Scarborough. Between the two visits, the third-year dental hygiene students educated and provided oral health care supplies to 536 children from kindergarten through third grade.

Students placed an emphasis on making the visits engaging and hands-on, incorporating games and a visit by the tooth fairy into their lesson plans.
