"What will I do in the Early College Neuroscience Program?"
UNE is nationally recognized for cutting-edge neuroscience research. Early College Neuroscience students have the opportunity to meet and learn from top neuroscientists who open up their laboratories and provide lectures in this highly competititve program. Students explore:
- Cellular function
- Drug effects and pharmacology
- Animal behavior
- Philosophical implications of research
- Neuroanatomy
- Biological correlates of cognition, and much more.
Tour nationally recognized regional neuroscience-related facilities, and work with UNE's world-class faculty member - A select group of dedicated educators who have earned UNE the ranking of “one of the best regional universities in the Northeast,” according to U.S.News and World Report.
A limited number of highly-competitive merit scholarships are available to top applicants due to generous support provided by the Office of the Provost, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences. All applicats will be considered for scholarship funding.
You will take exciting trips, meet new people and make lasting friendships!
Exciting Early College Field Trips & Events:
- Join a whale watching boat out of Kennebunkport.
- Visit some of New England's most beautiful beaches.
- Go to a Portland Seadogs baseball game.
- Browse the Portland Waterfront & the “Old Port.”
Dorms and UNE Life
Dorms are close to your classes and to the dining hall. This will
be a good opportunity for you to experience dorm life and a
roommate. Rooms include two desks and two beds with linens.
A dorm counselor/teaching assistant will be in residence with you.
Much of your weekday evenings will be spent with homework
and projects, but there will be plenty of opportunities to socialize
and explore the area. You will have access to UNE sports &leisure
facilities, including our six-lane pool, weight room, basketball
courts, and sandy beach and kayak launch! Other leisure
activities include movies, campfires and cookouts.

How Do I Apply?
*Students entering their junior or senior year in high school in Fall 2012 may apply to the Coastal Marine Ecology Program, as well as those entering their freshman year of college in the fall. Fill out the UNE Early College application, and mail it by May 1, 2012, with the $25 non-refundable application fee to:

Neuroscience Program Application
