MS - Environmental Sciences (Meteorology), Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California:  3/74  (Dissertation theme:  Cyclonic Development around Low Level Jets.)

From July 1969 to October 1989 - Naval officer and Naval aviator (Pilot); attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander; designated Mission Commander and Patrol Plane Commander on the P-3C aircraft; ground duties included Officer-in-Charge, Executive Assistant, Operations Officer, Maintenance Officer, Administrative Officer, Weapons Officer and instructor pilot.

Taught Freshman chemistry and upper level meteorology at the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland from 1977 to 1980, transferred at the Associate Professor level.

Taught 7th grade mathematics and life science at Hodgkins Middle School, Augusta, Maine from 1990 to 1992.

Joined UNE staff in January 1993 as the Physical Science's Laboratory Coordinator and Laboratory Instructor.  Have since continuously taught the Introduction to Chemistry and Physics course to the Occupational Therapists, and both semesters of General Chemistry I and II each summer.  In addition, I have taught an introductory GOB course to the Dental Hygienists and Psychobiologists, and several semesters of General Chemistry I and II during the regular school year.

Collateral duties include:
(1) Chemical Hygiene Officer for the College of Arts and Science,
(2) order and track all departmental lab materials, supplies and equipment, including research,
(3) inventory and maintain all student lab drawers,
(4) manage the departments' budget with regard to lab supplies, lab equipment, and equipment maintenance,
(5) conduct and track OSHA required lab safety lectures, and
(6) coordinate all CAS hazardous wastes disposal.

Committee membership includes permanent member of both the University Wide Safety Committee and the Environmental Management System Core Team.

Date of Birth:  12/23/1946
Married with one son and one daughter, both married and on their own, and one autistic foster son.  Wife is a full time middle school language arts teacher in Brunswick, Maine.  Extracurricular activities include tennis, golf, kayaking, home maintenance and family activities.
