Dr. Traub was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. He graduated from Colorado College in 1976 and subsequently taught secondary school in Colorado and Wyoming. He attended dental school at Creighton University, graduating magna cum laude in 1984. He then performed his residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 1988 and became certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1990. Dr. Traub was engaged in the private practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery in Albuquerque, NM from 1988 to 2013, at which time he relocated to New England. He joined Southern Maine Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in February 2016.
Dr. Traub served in the United States Naval Reserve from 1989 to 2015, retiring with the rank of Captain. He has also participated in numerous humanitarian cleft lip and palate surgical missions in Central and South America, Africa, and Russia. In addition, he has pursued graduate studies through the United States Naval War College and Norwich University, and he holds Masters' degrees in military history and organizational leadership.
