Employment Opportunities
The University of New England is seeking applications and nominations for a number of faculty positions in its College of Pharmacy located in Portland, Maine. With a plan to enroll its first professional class in the fall of 2009, the university is seeking qualified candidates to join the college’s leadership team in completing the appointment of the inaugural faculty to deliver the first year of the curriculum.
All faculty positions are full-time, 12-month, tenure track appointments. Clinical practitioners may elect a non-tenure track for 3 years. Teaching in the Doctor of Pharmacy program and scholarly activity are expectations of all faculty. Ultimately, all faculty assigned to participate in the college’s research program will be expected to generate extramural research funding.
The educational program will be delivered through a process of engaged teaching and learning in a new, modern, 48,000-square-foot building that will provide a comfortable environment for faculty, students and staff to interact. Opportunities for interdisciplinary education will be explored with the faculty in the College of Health Professions.
In addition to the Doctor of Pharmacy program, a number of the College faculty will also be engaged in scientific research. Collaborative research, within UNE and with partners in the region, will focus on pharmacometrics and bridging the gap between basic discovery and clinical drug development. To underscore its commitment to research, the College will devote one entire floor of its new facility to research laboratories, support space and faculty offices.
