White Coat Ceremony

The White Coat Ceremony is a featured event of the College of Pharmacy. The weekend of October 14 and 15, 2011 will consist of a Friday evening reception, Saturday morning Pharmacy 101 for families and Saturday afternoon White Coat Ceremony. What is a White Coat Ceremony?
The White Coat Ceremony is a significant and meaningful tradition that symbolizes the students' commitment to the profession of pharmacy and the professionalism that is expected of students within the College of Pharmacy and in their eventual practice. As a student of pharmacy, professionalism means to practice with excellence and accountability, and to always act with respect, honor, and integrity.During the ceremony the students are asked to recite an oath in which they pledge their professionalism. The students will wear a white coat representing their commitment to clinical care and service.
Will the student be receiving an invitation?
Yes, a formal invitation will be send to the student specified address in mid-September. Students may bring guests with them to celebrate this special occasion. We ask that guests respond to the invitation online or return the response card with the number attending.

Saturday, October 15, 2011 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Where will the weekend events and ceremony take place?
On the University of New England's Portland Campus
College of Pharmacy Building and Beverly Burpee Finley '44 Recreation Center
Both building are handicap accessible with parking located on site

What is the recommended attire?
Friday Evening and Saturday Morning: Smart casual
Saturday Afternoon White Coat Ceremony:
Students: Professional business attire and footwear
For Men: Dress shirt and slacks, tie.
For Women: Dress slacks or skirt, blouse, dress.
What are the directions and parking accommodations?
Directions to the Portland Campus
Parking available in the lot behind Finley Recreation Center, along Stevens Avenue or in any other lot on the campus. Note: you will not need to pick up visitor parking pass.
