"Eliminating disparities (in health) is not only good for our own country, it not only makes sense, but it is fundamentally right." - Dr. David Satcher, U.S. Surgeon General

The intent of the University of New England/Spurwink Center for Research is to conduct research to improve the health and quality of life for our most vulnerable populations and to enhance the interactive influence of research, clinical practice, service system functioning, and public policy. Our research ranges from biomedical projects to social, behavioral, and service delivery system research and outcomes-oriented evaluation.

The Center for Research examines service system designs, financing mechanisms and policies related to the attainment of outcomes in clients’ lives and impact on social environments. We assess clinical and service system integration within and across all service sectors and its relation to outcomes and efficacy.

The Center for Research cultivates collaborative relationships with community-based agencies and organizations with whom we share common interests for joint research leading to action outcomes.
