The St. Francis College History collection documents and preserves the history of St. Francis High School (1939-1961), St. Francis Junior College (1939-1953) and St. Francis College (1953-1978) in Biddeford, Maine. The collection contains published and non-published records, documents, personal papers, scrapbooks, memorabilia, audio-visual materials, photographs, images and artifacts as well as the records of the Institute on French Canadian Culture.
The collection documents the administration and student experience from the college’s establishment in 1939 until the creation of the University of New England in 1978. Collection research aids can be found on the collections page and digital images can be found in the St. Francis History Collection digital repository (DUNE).
The collection is one of five special collections maintained by UNE's Library Services and is housed within the Abplanalp Library on the Portland Campus. Contact us with any questions or to schedule and appointment.
