Undergraduate Student Government provides experience for its members in principles and practice of governance and acts as a medium for expressing the opinion of the students. It is the official organization for the allocation of funds to organizations, clubs, and activities. The Executive Board consists of president, vice-president, secretary, and financial manager. There are student affairs, public relations, and student services senators as well as commuter (two), non-traditional, class (one per class), academic departments (nine) and residence hall (two) representatives.
Activities Program Board (APB)
Activities Program Board plans social activities for the entire campus. Annual events include the Family and Friends Casino Night, the Spring Semi-formal, and Jamfest (an outdoor concert and carnival). APB sponsors many popular events including Karaoke nights, Coffeehouses, Comedians, Casino Night, Bingo, and Laser Tag. APB also plays an important part of Family and Friends Weekend. New ideas and creativity are always welcome.
Alliance
This group is open to any student interested in and supportive of others exploring sexual identity and Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgender, or questioning student or related cultural issues. Not only is it a great place to connect with other students but this group also partners with other clubs and organizations to plan programming especially during Coming Out Day and Gay Pride Week.
Athletic Training Club
This group provides for an improved educational experience in the field of athletic training. The club helps to prepare members for the NATA certification examination, provides an environment in which to establish a good rapport with fellow athletic trainers and the community, and provides funding for specific needs of the club and its members (i.e., scholarship funding, sponsorship to national, district, regional and state meetings, etc.)
Aquarium Club
Promotes and organizes various activities dealing with marine life on earth. The club also promotes activities that educate the UNE community about marine life, habitat and collaboration of marine species. The Aquarium Club also maintains the aquariums on the second floor of Decary Hall, travels to regional events, and sponsors guest speakers.
Business Club
The business club is looking to educate students on life skills including personal finances, resume and interview skills, budgeting skills, and many other activities involving management, finance, and business. We look to bring speakers, programs, and presentations to the campus that will benefit the entire student body as a whole, not just the business students. We are currently looking to develop an internship program for business students and are looking forward to hosting events that will help students to learn what professional skills they will need after college.
Campus Scouts
The club is open to all students interested in the scouting life. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or anyone else interested in the ideals of scouting: character, conduct, patriotism and service to others.
Cardio Club
An aerobic-based exercise class to empower students to live healthier lives. Students who participate can take advantage of being able to exercise in a fun and social environment led by knowledgeable instructors. All students are welcomed to join.
Chemistry Club
The Chemistry Club is about out reach to the Biddeford Community and exploring career options in the chemistry or pharmaceutical fields. We are going to accomplish both of these by preparing "fun chemistry" to attract primarily K-2nd grade. These experiments included both hands on (making ice cream, slim etc.) and observe only (mentos rockets, shrinking and expanding balloon animals with liquid Nitrogen, etc). We plan to explore career options by taking day trips to nearby symposiums and biotech or pharmaceutical companies.
Christian Fellowship
Christian Fellowship is a non-denominational group that is open to Christians and non-Christians alike. It is a welcoming and judgement-free group. It is a time of fellowship, prayer, Bible study, discussion, games, music, snacks, laughter and more. They are a group that seeks to be a place where you can be yourself and not have to worry about it. They hope to be a positive presence on UNE's campus through encouraging the students, serving the community, and having altogether WAY too much fun. The leadership team does all of this as a response to God's love for us!!! However, we are open-minded and love to learn from each other...you in no way have to consider yourself "religious" to join in our fun. We promise that you won't be uncomfortable and that there is no hidden agenda. Just come check it out.
Class Officers
Each class elects officers who advocate for the needs of the entire class. The primary focus of class officers is to create and maintain a sense of unity through social events planned throughout their tenure at UNE. Major effort is also invested in raising funds that are directed toward Senior Week celebrations. Class officers are elected each year and each class is represented on the Undergraduate Student Government.
Club Sports Council
This group serves as an organized group of student leaders who assist the Recreational Sports Coordinator in overseeing the Club Sports program. Members of the Club Sports Council are active members on the Club Sport teams: Men’s Club Baseball, Men’s Volleyball, In-line Hockey, Ski Racing Team, Dance Team, Gymnastics, Swim Team, and Ultimate Frisbee.
College Community Mentoring Program
A volunteer program dedicated to providing positive role models to local children grades K-8 and developing their academic, social, and emotional skills. The program also serves to enrich our mentors collegiate experience by engaging them in the community and making a difference in a childs life.

Discover! The Arts at UNE
The Arts at UNE is one of our newest offerings at UNE. In an effort to expose students to programming and activities that will not only entertain them, but enrich their college experience, the Office of Student Activities is proud to introduce this new program. With a combination of speakers, performers, and entertainers, the Discover! Series will introduce students to a variety of cultural heritages and backgrounds. Earth's E.C.O.: (Environmentally Conscious Organization)
This group is dedicated to making UNE an environmentally-sound University through educational endeavors, recycling programs, and guest speakers. It is comprised of students from various majors. Earth's E.C.O. is responsible for the campus recycling plan and the Earth Month speaker series in April, as well as UNE's Earth Day activities.
Emerging Leaders Program
The Emerging Leaders Program is a series of training and education workshops intended to provide students with leadership skills development opportunities. From conflict resolution and public speaking to club budget training, the workshops are designed to appeal to a wide variety of students, whether club leaders or students who just want to improve their own leadership skills. The Emerging Leaders Committee is composed of active student leaders and membership is based upon several criteria.
Filmmaking
Members of this club work together to provide a good source of entertainment, both enjoyable and/or educational, that can be viewed by UNE students, staff, and faculty.
Gaming Club
Interested in Card games like Magic, like RPG's such at D+D? well come join the UNE Gaming Club. Where you can learn, teach, or just play any game you wish!
Habitat for Humanity
The UNE Habitat for Humanity organization is to coordinate community building activities and other volunteer efforts to help those individuals less fortunate. Also, when possible efforts will be coordinated with other state and national Habitat Chapters. Members must be dedicated and willing to complete and/or assist in facilitating the Collegiate Challenge as an Alternative Spring Break.
Hall Council
The Hall Council serves as the representative body for the residence halls. Its main purpose is to act in an advisory capacity to the Housing and Residence Life Department for all matters concerning Residence Life, and to make recommendations about residence hall improvements, policies, damage billings, and events. Hall Council is also a programming group and sponsors Hall Olympics, Bingo, Book Drive, Food Drive, Nintendo Challenge, and various trips. Members include a representative elected from each floor and representatives from the Residence Life Staff. The Council has two representatives for USG to represent residential students.
Hang Committee
This student committee's main focus is to provide weekly entertainment opportunities for the Hang. Comedians, musicians, bands and even Karaoke may be seen every Thursday night.
International Club
The International Club promotes diversity and tolerance on campus through a variety of activities.
LASA ( Latin American Studies Association )
This group is open to all students interested in Latino/Latina topics and issues.
Make A Wish
The Make A Wish Club will organize, promote and run activities at UNE that will be used to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation in Maine. They will put on several activities a year.
MARC/MSC (Marine Animal Research Center/Marine Science Center)
Our goal is to educate the public about what is involved in operating Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center and why we help rehabilitate marine animals. Students get to volunteer to work with the animals in the Rehabilitation Center.
Martial Arts
The purpose of this club is to provide an opportunity for students interested in the martial arts to come together and share new styles.
M.A.S.H. (Marine Animal Stranding Helpline)
MASH is an organization where students teach themselves and others about marine animals. They do this through the hands-on experience of rescuing and rehabilitating marine mammals as well as hosting informational speakers. All UNE students are invited to join.

Nor'easter News is a student-run monthly publication dedicated to providing news and information relevant to the UNE community. Nor'easter News pursues content freely and thoroughly, following professional journalistic standards in writing and reporting. Nor'easter News is committed to serving as an open forum for thoughtful and diverse discussion and debate on issues of interest to the UNE community. Nor’easter (yearbook)
Yearbook staff members work towards producing a quality yearbook. The end product is not just a book, but rather something that the entire UNE community can be proud of as they remember events and activities. The yearbook is published in the summer following the academic year and all students who have paid the fee will receive a copy.
Outing Club:
The Outing Club provides extracurricular activities for students interested in learning more about the outdoors and participating in outdoor activities. Activities include canoeing, biking, hiking, cross-country skiing, rafting, snowshoeing and camping. The club also sponsors SOLO (Stone hearth Outdoor Learning Opportunity) training, skill development workshops, lectures, and slide shows.
People of Politics:
Students interested in the political process and voter registration. Non-partisan group.
P.E.P: The Personalized Exercise Prescription Program.
P.E.P.'s focus is to promote, evaluate, and prescribe physical wellness among the UNE student population. It provides opportunities for the club members to practice the exercise prescription by allowing them to work one-on-on with UNE students. It also provides funding for program members to gain certifications and attend workshops for continuing education units.
Pool Club:
The Pool Club hopes to encourage interest and enthusiasm around the game of pool (billiards) through regular play, tournaments, and fundraisers to benefit the Campus.
Psychology Club
The purpose of the Psychology Club is to enhance the educational opportunities of students interested in psychology and its related areas of profession.
Recreational Sports Program
Intramural sports leagues, tournaments, and special events for men, women, and co-ed teams. Flag football, Indoor Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Softball, Inner Tube Water Polo, Volleyball, 5 on 5 Basketball, 3 on 3 Basketball, Floor Hockey. Special tournaments include table tennis, racquetball, training, fitness challenges, and billiards. The Recreational Sports office also offers a waterfront program. The program includes outings and lessons in canoe and kayaking.
Rotoract
Rotoract’s mission is "service within and beyond the community." Goals include reaching out to the UNE community and nearby communities through community service or donations. In the past, Rotoract has sponsored a Halloween party for children from the York-Cumberland Housing Project; completed a winterizing project for an elderly couple on Hills Beach Road; went caroling at a nursing home; and donated money for a group of at-risk teens to go to the Rock Gym in Portland. The club works with the Biddeford and Saco Bay Rotary Club on several projects, too.
Sailing Club
Whether you are an experienced sailor or are just developing your sea legs, this club introduces students to nautical skills and may even offer an opportunity to engage in future competitive sailing.

Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC)
SAAC is a club comprised of two representatives from each athletic team along with two athletic trainer representatives. These representatives, chosen by the teams, work to sponsor activities that can bring the campus together to acknowledge athletics, as well as encourage school spirit. SAAC has sponsored a fall sports pep rally, Midnight Madness, and the Spring Sports Fling. SAAC also works with faculty advisors to handle issues student athletes may face. Even though members are chosen by the teams, SAAC encourages others to attend meetings, whether a varsity athletes or not, to offer ideas!
Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC):
SHAC stands for Student Health Advisory (Advocacy) Committee (Council). SHAC is on most college and university campuses The group works at community education, campus health awareness programs, working with health center to educate students, and promoting recent health issues that are in the news
Surf Addiction
Surf Addiction is a club for all Surfing enthusiasts, whether first timers or experienced wave riders. We watch movies, share surfing tips, boards, stories and spots. We plan outings to teach the beginners, community service projects. It is simply a club to bring the UNE surf elite together. We have a group’s page to communicate on; it is so much more enjoyable and safe to surf in a group rather than alone. We do not discriminate everyone is welcome, long boarders and short boarders alike.

Under Pressure (SCUBA Club)
Under Pressure sponsors a number of exciting activities for students who have an interest in the underwater world. Lectures, a film series, beach cleanup events, and other educational opportunities are open to all interested students. Participation in local and regional club-sponsored dive trips does require SCUBA certification. The SCUBA Club sponsors a certification course once a year for non-certified divers.
UNE Cycling Club
The organization will aim to hold weekly bike excursions whether on or off the road. Planned trips may be organized where the members can travel to an area for treks, fundraising, charity rides, or any cycling activity which the members agree, would benefit the organization or the UNE community.
UNE EMS (Emergency Medical Support)
UNE EMS is a group of licensed EMTs and other interested individuals who want to further their education in the field of emergency medical response. Selected EMT's have the opportunity to respond to emergency medical calls on campus. Anyone who is interested in volunteering is welcome to join. Training is provided.

The purpose of the club is to reintroduce the art of musical theater to campus.

UNESOTA (UNE Student Occupational Therapy Association)
UNESOTA seeks to develop a greater awareness of what Occupational Therapy is, both in UNE and local communities. It also helps to keep communication open between students and faculty. The club continues to grow each year and works to encourage more active participation. Each year, the club sends student representatives to the National American Occupational Therapy Association Conference.
UNE TABS
UNE TABS Music at UNE provides performing opportunities for UNE students, faculty, and staff. Group holds one chorus rehearsal, and one band rehearsal a week during the school year.
Zephyr
UNE’s journal of creative expression to which students’ faculty, and staff from both campuses may submit original works of prose, poetry, drawing, or black and white photography. Members of Zephyr constitute the magazine’s Editorial Board, which makes decisions about which works will be published in each issue. Zephyr is published once a year and comes out in May.
