Getting Around

U N E students posing with their new bikesYou do not need to bring a car to campus — UNE offers convenient and fun alternatives to help you get around.

The Nor'easter Express runs from UNE to the local train station, to the quaint and charming downtowns of Biddeford and Saco, and to Biddeford Crossing, where you find a host of restaurants and shops. The shuttle is free to use with your UNE student ID card and runs seven days a week.

The UNE Intercampus Shuttle, meanwhile, offers an ideal way for you to visit UNE's Portland Campus, where you find a range of interesting lectures, library resources and course offerings.

The Zoom Express provides inexpensive rides to Portland on weekdays, providing you with another option.

UNE offers two all-wheel-drive Zipcars that can be rented online by the hour. In addition, UNE has partnered with Zagster to provide a bike sharing network on the Biddeford Campus. Users can register online for free access to the system with a UNE email address. Stations are at the Campus Center, Decary Hall and The Alfond Forum. As a first-year residential or transfer student who opts not to bring a car to campus and become a Zipcar or Zagster member, you also qualify for your choice of one of three financial incentives for leaving your car at home:

  • $300 Flex dollars-Useable at select dining venues on and off campus
  • $300 Follett Gift Card-Useable at UNE Bookstore
  • $300 for ZipCar

If you bring a bike to campus, you may also take advantage of an easily navigable campus that offers bike racks outside all academic and recreational buildings.

*Note: Bringing a car to campus is expensive. Parking permits cost $300.00 and parking spaces are not guaranteed.
