Tutoring Services
The Student Academic Success Center (SASC) provides a staff of peer, graduate and professional tutors to support a wide selection of undergraduate courses. UNE’s peer tutors are a select group of students who demonstrate subject proficiency as well as the personal qualities conducive to good working relationships.
Peer tutors are selected based on academic achievement, supportive faculty recommendations, and an application and interview process. Peer tutors are trained and many have earned certification by the College Reading and Learning Association. Professional tutoring is provided by SASC staff.
Tutoring services are free of charge to UNE undergraduate students. Tutors’ regularly scheduled hours are published in the Tutor Schedule, available in the Student Academic Success Center and in the first floor Decary stairwell. Information about the tutor schedule is also available on the SASC website.
For the most up to date information, please contact the Student Academic Success Center at 207-602-2443. No appointment is necessary to use tutoring services and students may participate in drop-in tutoring as frequently as desired.
Students are encouraged to discuss their individual tutoring needs with Maura O’Connor, SASC Director. Maura can be reached at moconnor@une.edu or 207-602-2561.
