Student Internships and Job Opportunities


Department of Health and Wellness Education

1.   University of New England Students: There are two options for securing an internships with the Department of Health and Wellness Education:
     
  a. Through the Exercise and Sport Performance Department (ESP).

  b. Apply at the Health and Wellness Education office. This option is for those students NOT in the ESP department.
     
2.   Students from other Universities and Colleges: Internship Application Procedures


Procedures for Internship Candidate

Paperwork should be sent to Health and Wellness Education Administrative Office:
     Department of Health and Wellness Education
     University of New England
     Campus Center
     11 Hills Beach Road
     Biddeford, ME 04005

Paperwork should include:

  • Resume
  • Cover Letter
  • Name, address, phone number
  • Number of credits/hours needed
  • Goals and objectives for internship experience
  • Phone numbers of at least 2 references

  • Strength and Conditioning
  • Water Fitness
  • Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab
  • Senior Fitness
  • Community Programming
  • Student Programming/Fitness
  • Other

Procedures for Health and Wellness Education Department:

  • Review candidate's file/Reference checks
  • Discuss with fitness specialists
  • Schedule interview with candidate
  • Award/decline internship based on interview

Internship Procedures:

  • Discuss with candidate: schedule, timeline, goals, objectives, expectations, start date, meetings, projects, professional attire, professional conduct, BodyWISE policies, evaluations.

Application Deadlines/Start Dates
Summer Internship

  • Application Deadline: April 1st
  • Awarded in May

Fall Internship

  • Application Deadline: August 1st
  • Awarded the end of August

Winter/Spring Internship

  • Application Deadline: December 1st
  • Awarded in January
