Transportation
The University of New England has launched three new transportation initiatives to try preserve the green spaces on our campuses and to practice one of the university's most cherished core values; stewardship of our environment.
Believed to be the most comprehensive program of its kind in the country, UNE is offering free bicycles to the first 125 deposited freshmen who live in the Residence Halls for Fall 2010 or 28 free Zipcar usage hours for those Freshmen, Sophomore, or Juniors who opt to leave their cars at home; the program also provides expanded free downtown shuttle service and discounted taxi or limo service on the Biddeford campus, and free taxi vouchers to students at the Portland campus. New for 2010, UNE will begin a bicycle club offering tours throughout the seacoast, bicycle rentals, repairs and more.
UNE’s alternative transportation program is a collaborative initiative developed by the UNE Office of Student Affairs and Office of Safety and Security. (News Release)
