Recycling

Single-Sort Recycling

Each time a person disposes of their waste, they are presented with an opportunity to recycle. An important feature of the recycling program is the color-coded bin system. The system includes: a green bin for single-sort recycling, a blue bin for returnable bottles and cans, and a gray bin for non-recyclable trash. Signs on the wall above the containers and on the lids of the containers provide information about what waste goes in each bin to ensure that everyone does their part to recycle.

Cardboard can be collected by flattening boxes and placing them alongside the containers for housekeeping staff to remove at the end of the day.  Cardboard can also be brought directly to the dumpsters labeled “Cardboard Only” throughout campus. UNE is dedicated to reducing its negative impacts on the environment, and by presenting the community with simple ways to recycle, everyone can do their own part to help the planet.
