"I was really excited that there was a Trauma-Informed Certificate available. I think that's been one of the biggest things that’s shaped my experience here on campus, with how involved the class has been. It’s also given me an opportunity to connect with the instructor in a way that’s enhancing my knowledge of trauma informed care. Part of the certificate is to create a trauma change project in your field placement and that has been a really great experience for me. I’ve been able to, with the help of a couple of other classmates, create a training for teachers and staff at the middle school I intern at for trauma-informed care and how trauma impacts learning. I've also learned how to interact with students in a way that won’t re-traumatize them. This certificate has given me the opportunity to really dive into being a social worker and use my graduate experience to further my career."
