UNE is a very open place, and it has a beautiful campus. The English Department is spectacular, as everyone is more than willing to help you with anything you may need. I am president of the English Club at UNE, and the department has been wonderful at helping us get off the ground as well as in giving us wonderful advice and suggestions for events we could arrange. I am also a member of Zephyr, the University’s journal of creative writing and artistic expression, and seeing the sheer amount of creativity our students possess makes me really excited.

The Honors program has been really important to me, because of all the work we have had to put in to keep ourselves in the program, but I have also had a lot of research papers to write that help keep me busy. Rather than undertaking an internship, I worked on an independent Honors thesis project during my final year at UNE.

I would have to say the biggest "ah-ha" moment for me was presenting my Honors research at the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association National Conference. Very few undergraduates present at this conference, and it made me feel really great about how far I've come in my education at UNE with the encouragement and advisement of my professors.
