Marine Science

"I chose UNE mainly due to location. I enjoy living in a temperate climate of four distinct seasons. UNE's small size and proximity to the ocean were key factors in my decision to attend. Although Marine Biology is one of the more popular majors, it is still small enough for one-on-one interaction with professors, affording excellent learning and research opportunities.

"As a prospective student, I was invited to join the biology Honors program, and it has proved to be very worthwhile. It has given me great research opportunities, allowing me to begin my own independent research project at the end of my sophomore year... This early introduction to real science (not just lab activities) has been a key factor in the development of my future plans. In addition to the research aspect of the Honors program, the connections made with key faculty in many departments (as well as with the fellow Honors students) have been valuable."
