History

I moved around a bit as a kid and acquired a real strong liking for history. I got to see different people's perspectives and different styles of teaching from schools, and that just fascinated me. I knew the second I hit high school that teaching was what I wanted to do. Since history is a major at almost any school, all I had to do was look around until I found the right college for me. I only applied to two schools, but I knew that UNE was for me. Its small campus, and even smaller History Department, made me feel more individual and not just a faceless student. I really feel at home here — although for me, unlike most students here, home is over 300 miles away.

I absolutely love the History Department at UNE. It is a small department, so you get to know everyone in it. The professors are so involved with all of the students so you get to know them quite quickly. They take a real interest in what you like and will absolutely help you to research and study your interests further.

There is always something going on at UNE. Clubs, dances, movies, lectures — UNE knows how to keep students busy. You meet so many people not only in the first few months, but all year round. Just go to one event and you will see what I mean.
