Mike Nataupsky '11

I chose English as a major because it is my passion, and I have found myself in an environment at UNE that allows me to explore that passion intimately. I have grown in so many ways because of my time here. The faculty members that dedicated themselves to my intellectual growth, the incredible friends I have made, and the life experiences that have shaped my perspectives — all these things have been integral parts of my experience at UNE.

I remember looking for schools, and my teachers from high school were raving about the classroom size and student-to-teacher ratio (at UNE).

So, I took their word for it, and you know what? They were right. The relationships that I have formed with my professors are almost to the point of friendship — even if they are somewhat sadist creatures sometimes. I love being an English student, and it may be because of my pure passion for the language, but I attribute a lot of that passion to my professors’ abilities to instill excitement and relevance to the literature we read and to stress the importance of our writing.
