STUDENT HEALTH CARE

Fees and Insurance

  • Office visits are covered for full-time students through their general student health fees.
  • There is a small supply of medications available as samples, which will be given to students as appropriate and without charge based on availability.  Any medication prescriptions will be the responsibility of the student  to obtain.
  • The student’s health insurance will be billed for appropriate charges. The student will not be responsible for co-payments or balanced billing. There will be no added expenditures above the student services fee.
  • Students are responsible for all immunization charges up front. Students are charged at the rate UHC pays for the immunizations.
  • The cost of all lab work done at the Student Health Center, or sent out to a laboratory for diagnostic studies, will be billed to the respective insurance company. There is, however, a $6 draw charge for any labs.  Any other costs not covered by insurance will be the responsibility of the student to pay.
  • All full time students are required to have health insurance. Student have an option for purchasing health insurance through the University of New England. The University of New England school insurance is supplied by “The Chickering Group”.
  • UNE students who have The Chickering Group school insurance  can contact  Aetna at 1-207-602-2457 or at www.une.edu/studentlife/insurance.asp  The insurance brochures are available at the student billing department. Coverage is different for undegraduates versus graduate students. Again it is the resposibility of the student to contact their insurance companies to determine coverage, not the Student Health Center staff.
