Lost Boys of Sudan is a feature-length critically acclaimed documentary by Megan Mylan and Jon Shenk that follows two Sudanese refugees on an extraordinary journey from Africa to America.

Orphaned as young boys in one of Africa's cruelest civil wars, Peter Dut and Santino Chuor survived lion attacks and militia gunfire to reach a refugee camp in Kenya along with thousands of other children. From there, remarkably, they were chosen to come to America. Safe at last from physical danger and hunger, a world away from home, they find themselves confronted with the abundance and alienation of contemporary American suburbia.

Creative Writing Workshop Scheduled
The Maine Women Writers Collection at UNE will host "A Gathering of Writers" -  an eight-week series of creative writing workshops held at the MWWC in the Abplanalp Library on the Westbrook College Campus in Portland, starting on January 17, 2006.

The workshops are open to men and women with all levels of creative writing experience and will run on Tuesdays, 6:00-8:50 p.m. from January 17 – March 7, 2006. The fee for the entire series is $135. Enrollment is limited to fifteen people.

Each writing workshop will be inspired by the heritage of Maine women writers such as May Sarton, Edna St. Vincent Millay and Sarah Orne Jewett. But the true focus of the workshops will be on creating a supportive community of writers and using a variety of prompts to foster the development of a writer's own individual voice.
