University Health Care seeks asthma sufferers for clinical trial

Asthma sufferers are invited to participate in a clinical trial of a dietary supplement blend, sold over the counter for many years, to determine if it is effective in reducing the symptoms of asthma.

The clinical trial is being administered through University Health Care in Saco, a community service of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.

More than 17 million Americans-five percent of the population-suffer from asthma. The disease is the fourth-leading cause of disability in children, and results in about 5,000 deaths in the U.S. annually. Studies indicate that up to 90 percent of deaths from asthma are preventable.

This is an approved clinical trial with the following features:

· Each subject will be on both the product and the placebo in two separate phases

· Each subject will be seen by a nurse at each visit

· Each phase will last 6 weeks

· Subjects will be compensated for participation

· All visits will take place at University Health Care in Saco on Route 1

If you are interested in participating in this study, call University Health Care at 294-5733.
