UNE 2004-2005 awards ceremonies honor students, faculty, staff achievements
Spring awards ceremonies on the Westbrook College Campus and the University Campus honored students, faculty and staff who have excelled in scholarship and in their contributions to the University's collegiate community.
In addressing the assemblies, UNE President Sandra Featherman, Ph.D., noted a quote from the actress Helen Hayes, who said, "There is a distinction between achievement and success. Achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others. That is nice but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success."
Nevertheless, President Featherman said, "I would add, however, that achievement should be praised, and that's what we are here to do today. ... These awards aren't given lightly - you all have earned them by demonstrating your high standards, quality work and dedication to your goals."
