Jill Ryan
Jill Ryan is a resident of South Freeport, Maine. She says about her work, "I have always found solace and breathing space in natural beauty: color, light, air, water give a sense of joy and calm. I work best from photographs I have taken of meaningful places. It is easier for me to enter the zone of painting and truly seeing in a more pure form in my studio. I like to abstract and free up my images; I also like to play with color.  I have very strong reactions to color.  When a hue is off in my painting I can't relax until I get it right.  I actually feel an enormous 'phew' when I finally get it."

She continues, "I'm a psychotherapist by trade and believe my strongest gift is my intuition and capacity for empathy.  I believe these same gifts apply to art."
