Stacy Gato and Glen Ellen Roth named UNE employees of the year
The University of New England recently announced its 2005-2006 Employees of the Year. Stacy Gato of South Portland, director of enrollment services for the Westbrook College Campus, and Glen Ellen Roth of Saco, administrative assistant for the Occupational Therapy Department, were selected for enhancing the quality of life on UNE's two campuses.
Stacy Gato
Stacy Gato was recommended for improving the communication between the two campuses and improving service to the students.
"Her efforts in the past year to bring both Admissions and Registration Services closer together have resulted in more shared learning for all parties involved and have benefited the students transitioning from applicants to matriculated students," the Selection Committee noted. "She has been recognized as a problem solver. Her energy is infectious, causing others to move forward in a positive direction and with a positive outlook."
"To be selected for such an honor by my peers is such a privilege," Gato said in response to her selection. "There are so many outstanding faculty, staff and administrators at the University that to be recognized with this honor is overwhelming!"
Glen Ellen Roth
Glen Ellen Roth was honored for her continuous efforts to represent employees on both campuses, establishing the UNEfied Scholarship and her continuous effort in fundraising.
"These have had an impact campus wide," observed the Selection Committee. "Her service on numerous committees dealing with University-wide issues is above and beyond her positional responsibilities and contributes to enhancing the quality of life on our campuses." In response to her selection, Roth said that she was "absolutely thrilled and totally honored to receive this. I had no idea, and I am just thrilled. I love UNE and I love working here."
UNE employees were recommended to a Selection Committee, which then decided upon one employee from each campus to receive the award. Gato and Roth will be awarded certificates and checks from UNE President Sandra Featherman at her May 17th Farewell Dinner for faculty and staff.
