UNE's Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center needs volunteers
BIDDEFORD - The University of New England's Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center (MARC) needs highly motivated, caring and dedicated volunteers to assist in all aspects of the rehabilitation program. Responsibilities include food preparation, feeding the animals, cleaning animal pens, behavior observations, assisting with medical treatments and water quality testing.
Volunteers must be 18 years or older, in good physical condition and able to commit to at least one shift per week (shift length varies starting at three hours) for a minimum of three months.
MARC will hold a training session for interested volunteers on Saturday, June 2, 2007 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Registration begins at 12:45 p.m. Training is located at 205 Alfond Hall, University Campus in Biddeford.

MARC
The Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center is a division of the University of New England's Marine Science Education and Research Center. The rehabilitation facility is part of a network of centers authorized by the National Marine Fisheries Service to rescue and rehabilitate stranded marine mammals and sea turtles. MARC rehabilitates animals, working to develop the most effective means of rehabilitation, and researches the causes of marine mammal mortality and the state of the marine environment.
