Open to UNE students, faculty and staff, the week’s events include giveaways of two round-trip airline tickets to anywhere in the U.S. and Caribbean, plus a $1,000 Eurail pass.

Travel author Doug Lansky will present the week’s keynote speech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27 in Alfond 205 on the University Campus in Biddeford. Lansky will present “The 60-Minute World Travel Survival Course,” a “fast-paced, visual performance on travel that is like stand-up comedy with a great message. Doug will bring the audience along on a global odyssey. In this acclaimed, informative and often hilarious presentation, Doug imparts lessons learned while backpacking through more than 100 countries.”

Lansky began exploring the planet after college, doing everything from picking bananas in Israel, snowmobile guiding in the Alps, to selling carpets in Morocco. Lansky became America’s youngest nationally syndicated columnist with his weekly “Vagabond” column reaching over 10 million readers in 40 major newspapers.

In addition to his travels, Lansky has published several books, including First Time Around the World and Last Trout in Venice: The Far-Flung Escapades of an Accidental Traveler, hosted an hour-long travel documentary for the Discovery Channel/Travel Channel and served as the regular world-travel expert of Public Radio’s travel program, Savvy Traveler. Currently, Lansky serves as travel editor for Scandinavian Airlines in-flight magazine and contributes to Esquire, National Geographic Adventure and other publications. He has been on the road for roughly 10 years in over 100 countries. For more information on Doug Lansky, visit www.douglansky.com.
